Exclusive: "Dinner at Stipe" with Paul Bradbury
And the presentation of his hilarious book "Around the World in 80 Disasters"
Here’s what you can expect
You can expect Paul to share parts of his book, recount some of the wildest moments from his life, and answer questions from the guests.
There’ll be time for storytelling, laughter, and the classic “wait, did that really happen?” moments.
His energy is contagious, even though he might seem like a calm English guy at first glance.
After the talk, you’ll be able to buy his book.
Paul will gladly sign it for you – and might even throw in a cheeky personal note.
Unbelievable stories coming from a shy and kind-hearted Brit from Manchester. The book is packed with events that sound like fiction but actually happened – from Africa to Asia, the Balkans to the Caribbean. No filters, no censorship – just raw, real-life madness. It’s witty, chaotic, and sharp – just like Paul himself.
Perfect for those who love travel, real stories, and a solid dose of dark humour.
Dinner is served in a private villa, around one table, in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
The food is homemade and prepared with care – like you’re at a friend’s lunch, just with a friend who takes the menu a bit more seriously.
There’s no strict protocol here, but there’s plenty of order and heart.
The dinner guests are always a unique mix – never the same, but always good company.
And in this kind of setting, Paul’s stories hit even better.
Who is Paul Bradbury, and why should you come see and listen to him?
Paul Bradbury is an Englishman who’s been living in Croatia for over 20 years – and not just living here, but observing, comparing, commenting on, and writing about it with a kind of passion few can match.
Born in Manchester, he lived all over the world (lived in ten countries, visited 98), until one day, while working as a humanitarian in Somaliland, he saw a CNN ad saying “Croatia – the Mediterranean as it once was.”
He quit his job and moved to Hvar.
The rest of the story is – as Paul would put it – balkan-style magic.
He’s the founder of Total Croatia News, the biggest English-language media outlet about Croatia – so if you’ve ever googled anything about the country in English, chances are you’ve stumbled across his signature sarcasm.
He’s written several guides – on Hvar, on Split – and co-authored Croatia: A Survival Kit for Foreigners, where he explains how to survive in Croatia when you’re not from around here.
Spoiler alert: it’s not easy.
This time, he’s joining us as the author of his latest book – “Around the World in 80 Disasters” – which isn’t about Croatia, but about everything he’s been through and survived across the globe.
The stories are real, funny, shocking, and sometimes unbelievable – all told in his unmistakable style: part British, part local, entirely his own.
Why should you come?
Because you’ll eat well, laugh plenty, and go home feeling like you’ve met not just an author, but a man who’s lived through more bizarre situations than most of us could ever imagine.
Because seeing Paul on social media – on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram – talking about Croatia and making brilliant videos is one thing,
but sitting across from him, watching his facial expressions as he unravels a wild story from South Sudan or Thailand,
and trying to reconcile the calm guy in front of you with everything he’s been through – that’s something else entirely.
This isn’t just a book presentation.
This isn’t just a dinner. This is an evening where you travel halfway around the world without ever leaving your seat. In a warm, relaxed setting – with wine, catfish stew, and šnenokle – you’ll soak up stories you won’t find in any tourist brochure.
And don’t worry, no one’s giving a lecture.
This is Dinner at Stipe’s.
The atmosphere is like family, the food is honest, and the guests always bring a surprise.

Potato dumplings in breadcrumbs and catfish in white sauce “a la Stipino”
We wanted to have a bit of fun with our Drava river giant and pull him out of his usual spot on the plate.
That’s how catfish in white sauce “a la Stipino” was born – familiar, yet refreshingly different.
We won’t reveal everything — let’s just say the catfish has never behaved quite like this.
You’re the one who gets to decide if it worked.
19:30 – Main Course
Catfish stew “a la Stipino”
Perkelt is a classic, but this time we flipped it a little — adding a few unexpected twists.
The base remains the same: Drava river catfish, slow cooking, and lots of care.
The rest is for you to discover.
Roasted Veal
Juicy veal roasted with potatoes, sweet potatoes, and seasonal vegetables – a combination that brings a smile to your face.
